The Story
My name is Sara. I am an active volunteer in Crisis Support, an England Athletics Guide Coach and a Holistic practitioner. I often describe life as a never-ending process of discovery. After the return from my worldly travels and living in Australia, I landed in the healthcare sector, but later in 2006 I left the national health service working in Clinical Governance and Research, and obtained qualifications in psychotherapy and counselling. I became a holistic therapist for a while before I explored engineering, music and art all of which were passions of mine since an early age. Covid 19 was a turbulent time for the majority of us and much discombobulation. But I made a positive change to return to medicine and specialising in Pathology. I participated in study at Cambridge University ICE, King's College London, NHS, UCL and with the Royal College of Physicians. I also became a volunteer in Clinical Services at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS and a Covid responder on the frontline it was a sure way to give back to the community.

Background
I am an advocate of change, over time comes personal growth and expansion. In March '22 I obtained a certificate from Isha Foundation, India after completing the Inner Engineering programme offered by Sadghuru and the Shifu Yan Lei Shaolin Temple workout practising Shaolin QiGong and Shaolin Circuits.
My role as a Crisis Practitioner volunteer gives me the opportunity to reach out and bring calm to those in a compromising, deprived and life threatening situation tor both children and adults. My fundamental belief is that everyone deserves to be heard if not understood plus coming from humble beginnings myself and having fought some battles, my ethos is that we all have the capacity to make positive change and thrive.

Background in health
During the Covid 19 Pandemic Sara started training and volunteering in Clinical Services for NHS Hospitals and for the Royal Volunteering Services. In 2020 Sara also completed the professional cohort60 training as a Crisis Practitioner for Mental health Innovations and awarded several diplomas (with distinctions). Sara also supports her partner in their Risk Management family run business.
In 2005 Sara was awarded with a Diploma in Psychotherapy and successfully undergone and completed
the prescribed theoretical ODL course of study in various psychotherapy skills & technique. Soon after, Sara opened her Holistic practice online for several years.
Studied at the Open College UK (The Open College is both a profit and non profit College which exists to promote responsible, ethical, professional complementary health practices such as the correct use of alternative and complimentary therapies to the public and the conventional medical profession as and when required. The holder of the diploma supports & advocates all ethical policies taught by the collage at all times).

Bazil's workshop, for the 20th Anniversary of the Gospel Choir which had taken place in St Albans.
I was leading in alto. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant (an acquaintance) had given us a wonderful opportunity to attend an afternoon workshop, to learn, rehearse and sing in front of a live audience, conducted by a LCGC member and the director himself, Bazil Meade MBE. Much to my surprise we sang in the presence of Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant and Lady. After the performance the conductor changed my life forever. Although having always loved singing and coming from a music family, I hadn’t felt up until that moment, that I could be a performer. “So when will you be doing your first solo?” Said the conductor of the worlds most prestigious gospel choir, I couldn’t believe my ears.
I signed up for the new gospel choir called Bazil Meade Gospel Music Academy, BMGMA in St Albans. It is the sister group of the famous London Community Gospel Choir. I sang in soprano. I had the immense pleasure singing with LCGC at the St Albans arena, and even had to pleasure in taking my camera to the Jazz Cafe in 2015.

Entered in the Guinness Book of Records, performances on many popular TV shows on BBC1, ITV and radio. (Michael McIntyre, Brit Awards, Graham Norton, ITV's This Morning, Good Morning Britain, Royal Albert Hall, private functions and so on.
Athletics for wellbeing HG/M.E
When I started running again in the august in 2018, I had no exceptions of what to expect but by the end of December I returned quite heavily and participated in 5k, 10k, and half marathon races. Shockingly by Feb 2019, I was training to run my first marathon, The Virgin Money London Marathon by the end of the year I had competed 45+ races including an indoor triathlon and throughout the XC season '19/20 (National's, Southerns and Chilterns). Here are some of my PB's listed below:

I have been able to adapt a healthy change in my life with physical exercise. Engaging in sports has been a huge learning curb. It ultimately has given me some understanding as to how my body is responding in post ME and HG. I am now a Licensed Guide Runner with England Athletics please click here for more information.

I am pleased to announce that on the 18th July 2019 I obtained my Sight Guide Awareness Licence from England Athletics.
If you are blind or partially blind, I have been specifically trained to guide you safely, patiently and ethically on your walk/jog/run.
If you are:
From Bedfordshire (Bedford, Leighton Buzzard, Health and Reach, Linslade, Soulbury, or Southcott Village)
A child or adult
Up to 5ft 9inch in height (as advised) male or female.
Or require a guide to train with you for a race event locally.
Will partake in 5k, 10k and half marathon flat road races in Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes, or if you are from these areas but wish to run the London Marathon.
